We are an organization that ensures responsible recycling. The truth is, much of what people donate in the Bay Area becomes e-waste. Ultimately, the majority of this ends up being shipped to other parts of the globe. Thereafter, children and their families are forced to burn the toxic metals. Obviously, this is extremely unhealthy for those involved.

Responsibility begins with your consideration for donating your old, unwanted hardware for recycling to a responsible organization near you. Be sure to ask how they know their ‘recycling chain’ is not just sending toxins to third world countries. Most places aren’t really aware of what happens to their ‘stuff’ after sending it to a third party. Also, try asking them where their broken stuff really ends up. If they don’t completely understand the process, refer them to ban.org. Basil Action Network is basically the only watchdog group in the US that monitors these situations. They can answer any questions you may have regarding this issue.

The laws of the Golden State do not prevent e-waste from being shipped overseas, as many people believe they do.
